trip updates
yup, it's been almost a week since i last posted here. sorry, was so busy with stuff lately. by stuff, i mean work, work and more work! yeah...this week has been real hell! that's why i'm so happy when i was finally able to purchase our tickets for the panglao trip. :D anyway, a not-so-funny thing happened to me this morning. i woke up around 7am so i could go to the PAL office by 9am. so i got out of bed, turned on the stove to heat water for my bath, then waited on the couch. since i was still so sleepy, i fell asleep on the couch thinking that i would only sleep till the water boils. 4 1/2 hours later, i woke up to find out that the water i've been boiling had all evaporated! imagine that...i left the gas stove on for 4 1/2 hours! i panicked! i immediately turned off the stove then realizing it was 11:30 already, i ran up to my room for the PAL's phone number and for the details of our flight reservations. i then called PAL to ask them to extend the deadline fo purchasing. fortunately, they did extend it to 3pm. since i had to report for work as soon as i can, i went to the ali mall branch instead of the greenbelt branch to purchase the tickets. whew! photo-finish! i was able to purchase the tickets at around 1pm. great, huh? ;) that's it! all preparations are done. now, i'm just excited about the whole trip! :D
different stuff
photo bloga few nights ago, a friend commented that i've been posting a lot of pictures in my blog lately. then i realized...i really do! hmm...i guess i've been into pictures lately. it's just fun capturing all those memories, you know. ;) sick againyeah, i'm sick. again. this flu has been brewing for the past few days and yesterday, it got full-blown. i woke up around 7am, and i have this high fever so i got back to bed. i woke up again at 10am, but i felt that my fever haven't let up yet so i immediately informed my manager and our hr staff that i wouldn't be able to report for work. around 5pm, my brother-in-law accompanied me to the doctor. the doctor said that i have upper respiratory tract infection. i should take lots of fluids and vitamins. copy that. ;) conference callwe had a conference call earlier with our client. all i can say is... grrr!!!! i felt that i'm going to be more sick because of that call. ugh! panglaoi've already booked our reservations for our accommodation in panglao a while ago. only thing to do is purchase the reserved tickets. deadline is on the 23rd, but i'm sure i'll be able to purchase the tickets early next week. hmm..just the thought of going to the beach makes me excited! :D
sabado night
our choir went to Metrowalk last saturday. it was make-over night for 3 of our members: ea, tammy and mira. we hung out at starbucks the whole night, just talking about stuff and updates in our lives since we last saw each other early january. it was fun hanging out with them again, so we're planning another night out -- one where we could look our best and just PARTY! :D anyway, check out the pictures. ;)
friday night gimiks
this is what i missed when i didn't join my officemate last night. well, actually these photos were taken at our last gimik at niche. sorry, they're a little blurry and dark...a camera phone was used to take these, so i shouldn't complain. ;p anyway, i think i'm going to join them again next friday. don't want to miss out on all the fun, right? ;) i feel that this is getting to be a weekly thing. i just hope that it'll be fun-ner evrytime. :D
yearbook write-up
since aya (one of my college friends) is a good writer, i asked her to compose something for my yearbook write-up. here's what she came up with: With her trademark silky hair and chinky eyes, a lot of people say she looks like Mulan. Most people also have a first impression of Vanie as being snobbish or mataray. Maybe so, but only when the situation calls for it. Her friends will attest to how sweet and thoughtful this girl can be.
She also claims to be kinda vain, and why not? With the many talents that she has, Van has every right to be vain. A star volleyball player. A dancing and singing diva. A party girl who speaks gay lingo just like the original article.
Always one of the first to liven up a dance floor, Van has a cheerful disposition that makes her the life of any party. In fact, she has such an immense enthusiasm for life that it simply radiates to the people around her. Her name means butterfly, and she’s just that, flitting from one activity to the next, trying to get the most out of life.
Being the youngest of five siblings doesn’t make Vanie a spoiled brat at all. In fact she is a very strong-willed and independent lady who knows what she wants and goes for it.
More than anything, Van is a true and dependable friend. Whether you need a shoulder to cry on or an extra pair of underwear, Van won’t let you down.when i read that, i didn't know how to react. i was just speechless and very grateful. i never thought that one of my closest friends would describe me as sweet. :p thanks, sis! ;)
kung hei fat choi!
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR, ALL!hmm.. i didn't know today's also the start of the lenten season. yeah, it's Ash Wednesday but i wasn't able to attend mass. come to think of it, i haven't attended mass for a very long time. my last was january 2 -- celebration of the three kings. oh well, guess my next would be easter. however, i'll be at panglao then. hmm.. i wonder if there's a church near the place we're staying. oh well, we'll see. anyway, it's officially the start of the rooster year. i've heard a lot of negative predictions lately. here's what i can remember from what i've watched and/or read: * the breadwinner of the family is prone to accident * it is not a good year to start a business * it is not a good year to get married * it is best to avoid unnecessary spending * earth and fire are the strongest elements -> earthquakes and fire disasters are most probable this yearyeah, so much negative energy. i've never really been addicted (?) to predictions but in this case, i think it's best to be extra cautious. better safe than sorry. ;)
song bird
haberday, mareng liz! may you have lots and lots more to come! ;)
this is harsh
actually, this is SO harsh. and UNFAIR. the manager of a client wrote this in one of the email threads about the issues that they have on the system we developed for them: " What we are requesting are necessary refinements to address the basic flaws of the system namely: (a) the hardcoding that FBM made; (b) inflexible & cumbersome-to-maintain reference table design/structure that FBM made; (c) necessary changes to the transaction capturing & processing & report generation modules as a result of letters (a) & (b)." allow me to explain...first off, (a) was a result of the users' insistence that the report format they want be displayed. if they had agreed to change the report format (one that do not depend on the brand they specified), we wouldn't have to place hard-coded brand names in the stored procedures. secondly, (b) was approved by them last august. if they even thought for a minute that the database design we made was inflexible and cumbersome to maintain, why didn't they say that during the meeting that we had? why did they approve a design that they weren't satisfied with? yes, i felt that my intelligence and capability was questioned. i feel inadequate. but i have to live with that. or do i? oh well, guess i just have to wait for the decision of the higher people. i just hope that everything will work out ok.
more "blog things"
haha. this just goes to show i'm bored. waiting. whatever! :p

TGIF!
woohoo! it's friday! gimik again tonight, then total relaxation this weekend. yipee! ;) anyway, this is it! we are going to panglao. i have already booked our flights for march 25 (fri) - 28 (mon). yeah, i know i have to file a leave for the 28th but that's ok. this is finally vacation! :D updates... i sent an email to 3 resorts, and only 2 replied saying that they are already fully-booked. i then called 7 other resorts. three said they're fully-booked, 3 other said they have to check their reservation book for room availability on the said dates. the last one said that they do have available rooms. unfortunately, the resort was 150 meters away from the beach. but their rates are really cheap, so their only condition for reservations is to deposit half of the payment as confirmation. i'll be calling other resorts later for options. gotta have lots of options before we could decide. oh well, that's the update for now. i'll keep you posted for more. ;)
and yet another weekend has passed
yes, it was another busy weekend for me. weekends start friday nights, so i'll start with what happened friday. hmm.. well, i don't really want to go into the details of the company release party. it was generally ok. i had fun, except that i think the vocalist of the band that goes with the venue sucked. imagine, she tried to sing "waiting in vain" even if she didn't know the song! WTF! oh well. just check out the pictures here. (sorry, you have to sign up to view them. :p) anyway, saturday was very relaxing for me. i was a couch potato for the whole day, and it was great! when i got tired of that, i went to my sister's house to chika. i also got hold of her wedding pictures, which i uploaded yesterday. then sunday was a bit hectic. i went with my cousin to Robinson's Metro East to apply for a Globe subscription. remember this? well...since mine wasn't approved, i asked my cousin to apply for me. ;p when i got home, a friend asked me if i wanted to watch a movie and i said yes. we had dinner in our own houses first then we met up and went to Metro East (again for me). we watched the last full show of Meet The Fockers then went home. i actually wanted to watch more movies afterwards but i knew it was time to rest for the day ahead of me. i was right! i had a lot to do yesterday. good thing that despite the hectic schedule, i was able to watch Elektra last night. ;)
